Lyle Talbot passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2016. He was born in Clayton, NM on October 26, 1926, and was a lifelong resident of the state.

After service in the Navy, he attended UNM, graduating in 1950, the same year of his marriage to Barbara Ann Griffin. Lyle founded the Lyle Talbot Agency in 1958 and was a leader in the business community throughout his career, serving as a President of the Independent Insurance agents of New Mexico, Director emeritus of the National Atomic Museum, and longtime member of the Rotary Club of Albuquerque, the One Hundred Club, and the UNM Lobo Club.

Privately, he and Barbara founded Sandia Shadows Vineyard and Winery, loving the “farming” and the social engagement it created. His business card described him appropriately: Grandpa Deluxe, World Traveler, Wine Consultant, and Super Gardener.

Lyle Talbot will be greatly missed by son, Randy and wife, Margaret Talbot; daughter, Karen Talbot Rohde and husband, Mark; and daughter, Ann Talbot; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lyle embraced his life and friends and was always positive and active in the Albuquerque community and most recently at La Vida Llena. His signature “and a happy hello to you” greeting will be fondly remembered.
