Lula “Jo” Engelberger
Lula Josephine (Gathings) Engelberger, “Jo”, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2013, at the age of 81. She was born on November 21, 1932 on a small farm in Morven, North Carolina. She moved to Bridgeport, CT in 1941 and graduated from Bassick High School in 1950. Upon graduation she worked as an executive administrative assistant in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She married her high school sweetheart, John Kolb Engelberger, on August 30, 1952. Jo and John moved to Brookfield in 1964 where she raised their family.
Jo was a devoted, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband John Kolb Engelberger of Brookfield; sister Margaret Curry Barbour of Hope Mills, NC; daughters Jan Durand and Kim (David) DeBoer of Napa, CA; granddaughters Samantha and Abby Durand of Jamestown, RI; grandsons Michael and Myles DeBoer of Napa, CA; great-grandsons Joshua and Izaiah and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son John Ramsey Engelberger.
She will live in our hearts and be loved forever.
