Luis “Kim” Mills, 69, of Fairfield MT, President of Mills Motor Company, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kim was born February 12, 1945 to James R. and Madge A. Mills; he is the youngest of four children.

He attended school in Fairfield, graduating in 1963. While in school, Kim participated in many sports including baseball, basketball, football and track. He also enjoyed being part of the choir, and he developed a love for singing which continued all his life. He enjoyed family vacations to California to see his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kim was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved singing with the Fairfield Community Choir and the L.D.S. Church Choir. He enjoyed supporting and watching the school athletics. He could always be found at the school when the teams were playing. He loved to joke, tease and laugh with everyone.

He married Karen Kropp in 1968 ending in an annulment, then Carla Doss in 1983, ending in divorce.

Kim went to work for his father at Mills Motor Company, alongside his brother in June 1966. He worked there fulltime until his death. After their father passed away in 1976, Kim and Jim (Pal), “the Mills Brothers”, purchased the dealership from their mother. They worked together until Pal’s death in 1990. Continuing the family tradition, Kim then worked with Pal’s son Mike, who joined the dealership in 1992.

Over the years Kim and the dealership received numerous awards from Ford Motor Company and had great friendships and relationships with customers and other dealers and Ford managers. Mills Motor Company celebrated 75 years as a family owned dealership this past year. Kim loved talking to his customers, always having a story to tell. He remembered everyone that had purchased a vehicle from him and enjoyed it when they came back and bought several vehicles over the decades.

He was a lifetime member of the Fairfield Lions Club, he served as a referee with Montana Officials Association for 27 years, was an officer of the Montana Ford Dealers Advertising Association, a member of the Montana Auto Dealers Association as well as the National Auto Dealers Association.
