Luis A Calderon, 61 of Manchester, CT passed away after battling cancer on Monday April 23rd at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born in Lima, Peru on March 12, 1957. the son of Dominga and the late Jorge Calderon. He migrated to the U.S. when He was 3 years old to Hartford CT. After graduating Bloomfield High school in 1975 he enlisted into the Air Force. After being honorably discharged, Luis became a member of the Hartford Labor’s Union 230 for 2 years. In 1981 he became a member of Hartford IBEW Local Union 35 as a St of Ct licensed electrician. During his 34 year membership he became a master electrician, an apprentice instructor for 12 years and taught English as a second language for the city of Hartford. He earned his Bachelors and Masters in electrical engineering at CCSU. In 2014 he retired from Local 35 and was hired by the DOT as an state electrical inspector.
Luis loved life and made the most of his time. Alongside his brothers, Luis grew up playing soccer and neighborhood basketball. He was an avid dancer from disco to salsa. With his love of music, he taught himself to play the congas. Throughout his life, Luis drew sketches to express his love for art. He had many hobbies which included, camping, reading (especially history), photography, raising his Jack Russell dogs and taking rides on his 1987 Harley Softail.
Most of all Luis was a devoted family man. He cherished his wife Delia and twin daughters Lucia and Kamila. Luis is also survived by his sisters (Mary and Liz), his brothers (Abe, Jorge, Moses, Henry, Art, and Julius) and his many nieces and nephews. His sister Soledad and father Jorge pre deceased him.
