Mrs. Luegenia Stokes Pinnix, 85, former resident of Barbee Ave., died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Facility, Thomasville.

Mrs. Pinnix, daughter of James W. and Jessie Mills Stokes, was born September 23, 1919 in Chester, South Carolina. For most of her adult life she was a resident of High Point, where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a former house parent at Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina in Thomasville. Crafts, cooking, and shopping for antiques were activities she gained special delight from.

Her husband, Walter Pinnix, parents, three brothers, and one sister, all preceded her in death.

Surviving relatives include: two sisters, Nola S. Hoover of Thomasville, and Mattie S. Thomas and husband, Willie, of High Point; two nieces she considered as daughters, Frances Tuttle and husband, Russell, and Jessie Leak and husband, James, all of High Point. There are nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
