Lucion Jackson, Sr., 86, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Indianola, MS, the son of Amos Armstrong, Sr. He married Artie Mae White in 1941 and she survives.
He is also survived by seven children, Anna Mae (Clyde) Hart, Carrie Mae Freeman, L.J. Jackson, Mark McFarland, Earl (Karen) Jackson, Patricia Bates, and Michael (Kim) Jackson; 50 grandchildren; 140 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Amos (Ruth) Armstrong and Eddie Armstrong; and two sisters, Darlene White and Leola (Fred) Walker. He was preceded in death by five children, Bertha Jackson, Mare Rose Jackson, L.A. Jackson, Eva Davis, and Claudia Sykes; two grandchildren, Rose Ella Davis and Capone Jackson; and one sister, Benvia Bell.
Mr. Jackson was employed by MacMurray College for 15 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as a farmer in Mississippi before moving to Jacksonville. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, dogs, and cars. He was well-received by this community upon his arrival and was considered to be a pillar in the community of Jacksonville. His daily contributions will be missed by all.
