Lucinna ‘Mona’ Oscar was born on Sunday, October 9, 1955, in Chevrau Lomba in Artibonite, Haiti to the late Louicina Dorecely and Oreste Oscar. She was the tenth child, the baby of the Oscar family.
Lucinna was very fashionable. She loved getting dressed, having her hair and makeup done, and smelling good. She always kept an extra lipstick in her purse. But don’t let her good looks fool you — Lucinna was a very smart businesswoman, buying properties in both the U.S. and Haiti. In her free time, she loved to sew and decorate her home.
Lucinna ‘Mona’ Oscar peacefully passed away on the early morning of Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Lucinna is survived by her four daughters who made up the entirety of her world, Shirley Oscar, Medeline Gabriel, Vanessa Gabriel, and Lisa Gabriel, and her grandson Emmett Baron Oscar Desroches; her older siblings: Lemencia Oscar, Saint Louis Oskar, Olivia D. Dorrielan, Angeline Oscar-Cajuste; her nieces and nephews: Claudette Occeus, Joules Oskar-Litus, Erronne Oskar, Smith Oreste, Lucner Marc, John Claude Oreste, Maxene Oskar, Marilyn Simeon, Glenda Oskar, Roselore Oskar, Sabine Oskar, Louis Jeffrey Oskar, Herbert Dorvilmé, Ronald Dorvilmé, Dieusel Dorrielan, Pastor Oreste Dorrielan, Frank Dorrielan, Pastor Emmanuel Dorrielan, Jean Dorrielan, Job Dorrielan, Gravaianna Cajuste, Bertha Cajuste and Ashling Cajuste; and a host of family and friends.
Although Lucinna now rests with our father, she will continue to be a guiding light and inspiration to us all. Thank you for being here with us today to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, our sweet Lucinna ‘Mona’ Oscar.
