Lucille F. Gross nee Pfeifer, 95, of Titusville, FL, formerly of O’Fallon, IL born October 24, 1921 in New Baden, IL passed away on May 23, 2017 in Titusville, FL. Lucille retired in January 1985 from civil service in the Chief Editing Branch Publishing Division at the Headquarters Communications Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
She was awarded the Department of Air Force Outstanding Civilian Award upon her retirement for her 35 years of faithful service. She was very active in the O’Fallon Senior Citizen’s Club, VFW Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women’s Club, E.S.A Sorority, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and spent over 50 years as a member of the O’Fallon Women’s Club. She was an avid seamstress, and gardener. Lucille was a huge sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and going bowling.
A great person a great life she will be remembered with love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Gross; parents, Frank and Ida Pfeiffer, nee Cochran; brothers, Joseph Pfeiffer, Frank Pfeiffer and James Pfeiffer; and sister, Phyllis Pfeiffer. She is survived by two sisters, Jeanette Banning of Gainsville, FL and Cindy (Gary) Strayer of Titusville, FL; one sister-in-law, Irene Pfeiffer of CA and many nieces, nephews and friends.
