Lucille (Peggy) E. Savilla completed her earthly pilgrimage on January 20, 2017. Peggy was born to Hyson and Emmaline Cornelius in Tomah, Wisconsin, on January 22, 1924, and was the youngest of seven children. She married Joseph P. Savilla and had four children; Philip of Yuma, Az., Christine of Santa Fe, NM, Fr. Edmund of Albuquerque and Anthony (Tony) and wife Kathy of Belen. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; two sisters; four brothers; and great-granddaughter, Krystle Savilla.
She was a proud member of the Onieda Nations. She was an active member of the Third Order of St. Francis, Curisillo, Charismatic Movement and various ministries for the St. Francis Parish in Gallup, NM. In the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, she was involved with the Marriage Enrichment, Charismatic Movement, Quadalupana’s in the Pilgrimage for Vocations, Native American Ministry of the Archdiocese, member of the National Tekawitha Conference, and an active member of various ministries in the Queen of Heaven Parish, in Albuquerque, NM. After graduating from Haskell Indian Jr. College, she began her career with the U.S. Indian Health Service in Gallup and Albuquerque.
She is survived by her children; nephew, Paul Cornelius; niece, Carmen Taylor; grandchildren, Laurinda, Devonna, Philip Jr., Cassandra, Alexandria, Hyson, Zachary; and great-great-grandchildren, Tara, Kaden, Jasmine, Nicholas, Elijah, Zaden, and Adelina ; great-great-great-granddaughters, Esperanza, Kadriona.
