Beloved Luciano Maldonado, 72, passed into eternal life June 30, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born to Luciano Maldonado (Sr) and Esther Hinajosa Maldonado on June 5, 1951 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was the youngest of 9 children.

As a young boy, Luciano and his family came to the United States and eventually settled in Detroit, Michigan. From humble beginnings, Luciano graduated with honors from Western High School. Awarded with an academic scholarship, he went to Oakland University to receive his Bachelor’s Degree where he played soccer and graduated top of his class. He then pursued a Degree in Law from Wayne State University.

Luciano moved to Houston, Texas where he spent much of his law career and life. Also known as “Lucky” (after winning a black Cadillac), it was in Houston where he met a number of dear and lifelong friends, Harry (Linda), Steve and Gus to name a few. He never met a stranger. He loved to play golf, baseball, listen to music and travel.

Luciano was a proud and dear father to Angelica “Angie”. He adoringly called her “Cosas”. Anyone who knew Luciano, knew how much he adored his Angie.

Suffering from heart problems, Luciano retired and lived with his loving sister Olivia in Columbus, Ohio. He formed a special and close bond with his niece’s, Jennifer & Andrea, and Andrea’s daughter, Gaby, who he referred to as his “avocado girl”.

Luciano’s laugh was infectious. His quick wit and sense of humor was sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. He was a master at the grill (he made the best fajitas) and a master on the dance floor. He loved a sunny day, couldn’t resist a cold beer, crossword puzzle or a scratch off lottery ticket. His zest for life afforded him a wealth of wonderful memories to be treasured among his family and friends.

Luciano is preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers Oscar, Homero, Horacio, and his sisters, Ofelia and Olga.

Left to cherish his memory, Luciano is survived by his daughter Angie (Tom), his granddaughters, Savannah & Gabriela. His sisters, Olivia & Odila “Lila” and brother, Omar, as well as his many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed.
