Lt. Col. Marvin M. Glass, USAF Retired Marvin Glass, 93, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009. He was born January 19, 1914 in Itasca, Texas to parents John W. Glass and Rosalie Brandle Glass. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Laura Sheppard Glass, and his loving wife, Martha Parks Glass. Marvin was a World War II and Korean War veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He joined the U.S. Army Calvary (on horseback) in 1939 and later joined the U.S. Air Corp. (Air Force) becoming a fighter pilot in WWII and the Korean War. Marvin flew a variety of aircraft during his career but his personal favorite was always the P-47. He later worked at the Pentagon and then served at the White House under President Kennedy as an Intelligence Aid. He retired from the USAF as a Lt. Col. in 1965 after serving his country for 26 years. He graduated from Texas A&M with an electrical engineering degree and the University of Minz with a nuclear engineering degree. After retirement, he operated a private airport and gave private flying lessons in Brooksville, FL and later taught at Tampa Technical Institute for 14 years. He is survived by children, Carol Guionnaud, daughter and son-in-law Rene’, Eddie Parks, son, Vivian Schuler, daughter and son-in-law, David, Bob Glass, son and daughter-in-law Elizabeth; grandchildren, Lisa Moore and grandson-in-law Tom, Denise Sneeringer and grandson-in-law Tim; great grand children, Christopher Marvin Moore, Jonah, Simon and Rachael Sneeringer; step grand children, Rene’ Guionnaud Jr. and wife Teresa, Robin Honaman and husband Dave, Heather Amico and husband Guy, Eric Guionnaud; step great grandchildren – Chantal, Christine, Ruth, Hannah and Elise Guionnaud, Madelyn and Maxwell Honaman; Alec and Anabelle Amico; siblings, John W. Glass, Jr. and wife Carmen, Coralea Glass Shaw; a special friend, Jo Wilkerson; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all his friends at Creekside Retirement Center for sharing in all his good times while living in Chattanooga, NHC of Chattanooga, and Hospice of Chattanooga for their special end of life care.
