Louise Turner Lawrence, 90, of 101 Hamlett Dr., Blackstone, VA, formerly of Barrows Mill Rd., Martinsville, VA died Friday, May 20, 2011 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. Born April 16, 1921 in Franklin County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Claude Swanson Turner and Ruth Hundley Turner and was the wife of the late Charles Morris Lawrence. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lola Lawrence; two sisters, Frances Lester and Gladys Stratton; two brothers, Claude Swanson Turner, Jr. and Harry Turner. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville where she was very active in church activities and was a member of the Friendship Club. She also was a member of the Senior Citizens Group at Jones Chapel Church of The Brethren. Mrs. Lawrence had worked as a seamstress at Lacy Manufacturing in Martinsville for more than 20 years before retirement. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Lawrence Clay and husband Mike Clay of Blackstone, VA, Marie Lawrence Winn and husband Mike Winn and Elizabeth Lawrence Pearce and husband Craig Pearce all of Goochland, VA and Lois Lawrence Mattingly and husband Chris Mattingly of Cobb Island, MD; a son and daughter-in-law, Morris Earl Lawrence and wife Carolyn Lawrence of Martinsville; a sister, Ruth Williams of Martinsville; a brother, Harold Turner of Lawton, OK; seven grandchildren, Chase Lawrence, Kelly Lawrence, Kirsten Clay McCormick, Sarah Clay Fitzgerald, Michael Clay, Scott Pearce and Jonathan Mattingly; eight great-grandchildren, Rebecca McCormick, Leighanne McCormick, Koty Fitzgerald, Kaleb Fitzgerald, Kasey Fitzgerald, Caitlyn Clay, Abigail Mattingly and Logan Mattingly.
