Edna Louise Rhodes, 86, formerly of Streator, Wedron, and Serena, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Sylvan Crossing Assisted Living in Madison, Wisconsin. Mrs. Rhodes was born on Nov. 23, 1924, in Deer Park Township to Samuel W. and Edna (Woodward) Calkins. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School.

She married Aaron Moore Rhodes, on Dec. 10, 1942 at the home of her parents in Deer Park Twp. and became an active farm wife. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Farm Ridge Twp, a member of the LaSalle County Farm Bureau, and was a 4-H leader for a number of years.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith (Ken) Christensen, of Peoria, Arizona, and Joan (Brian) Smiley, of Madison, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren, Mark Setchell, Jody Kopetsky, James and Daniel Rhodes, ten great-grandchildren, Grace and Gwen Kopetsky, Jakob and Jenna Setchell, Rachel, Nathan, Kevin, Ethan, Madison, and Killian Rhodes, and one sister-in-law, Katy Calkins, of Deer Park Township. Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 20, 1987, one son, James Rhodes, one grandson, Greg W. Stechell, and siblings, Lyle and Fred Calkins, Ruth Holcman, Raymond Calkins, and Ade Mae Cinnamon.
