Irene Louise May “Mickie” Nesbitt, age 102, passed away peacefully in her sleep September 18, 2020. She was born January 5, 1918 in East Glastonbury, Connecticut to Herman G and Bessie May Kessler (nee Lingner). She spent a good deal of the last few decades in Michigan, mostly in Owosso, then later in Cadillac. Last year she moved to Texas to be near her family.Louise – Micki to everyone she knew – was a funny, delightful people-person who made quick friends with small children and animals. She enriched the lives of others through various occupations as a wife, mother, librarian, Bible story salesperson/enthusiast, homemaker. She baked cookies for holidays, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.Asked about her secret to longevity she said, “Stay as independent as you can for as long as you can.”Louise is survived by her her cousin Elizabeth Robinson,grandchildren and spouses Christopher and Barbara Kessler, Cheryl and Raymond Robinson, and David Kessler, seven great grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren. She loved them all, with a special affection for the babies.Preceding her in death were her loving husband Lloyd Nesbitt, son George Kessler, brother Herman Frederick Kessler, and cousins Clifford Eccleston and Henry Lingner.
