Martha Helen Louise Miller Thomas, 95, of McCordsville, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Hearth at Windermere in Fishers. She was born December 31, 1916 to the late Everett and Mae (Behymer) Miller. She was a Math Teacher, Counselor and Guidance Director at Mt. Vernon Middle School. In addition to volunteering over 2,000 hours at Hancock Regional Hospital, she also served as President of Mt. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the McCordsville United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees, including Trustee.

She was very active in the United Methodist Women’s Organization and assisted with many meals over the course of several years. Louise loved gardening, flowers, travel, and her cottage on Intermediate Lake in Bellaire, MI and the Thomas Log Cabin in McCordsville. But most of all she was the rock of our family; she loved us all and we loved her. She is survived by her children: Darrell (Nancy) of McCordsville; Randy (Sue) of Bellaire, MI; and Jeff (Marcia) of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren: Darren (Suzanne); Shannon(Colin); Jennifer (Eric); Erin (Jason); Jason (Renee); Ashlea (Colin); Drew (Amanda); and Tricia (Jim); great-grandchildren: Dakota, Colton, Cassidy, Xander, Kaylee, Kaidan, Amelia, Canyon, Marcella, Liliana and Ciaran.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hervey “Doc” Thomas in 1987, whom she married on July 17, 1937; and brother Leo C. Miller.
