Louise Bauer Brawner, 90, a longtime resident of Great Falls passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, December 3 in Loma Linda, California.

Louise was born on September 25, 1924 to Frank and Bertha Bauer in Great Falls, Montana. She attended local public schools and graduated from Great Falls High in 1942. Following high school she went on to attend what is presently the University of Great Falls, receiving a BS degree in nursing. She used her skills to tend to family and friends long before hospice came to the city.

In September 1946, she married George Castle Brawner in Missoula and from that union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters. They resided in Hamilton until 1950 when they returned to Great Falls which is where Louise lived until August of 2013.

Louise’s first priority was always her family. She greatly enjoyed living to see her nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Baking a plethora of cookies and candies for the holiday season was her specialty. Having coffee with her next door neighbors Kenny and Faye Moss was something she looked forward to daily. Louise was also known for her beautiful hand stitched quilts.

Survivors include her daughters, Beth (Pat) Mauch of Fontana, Rita (Robert) Opie of Billings, MT; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a cherished lifetime friend Viola Stahlecker.

She was preceded in death by her husband George and her sister Lucy Thomson.
