Louis Waaso, 89, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Friday morning, December 21, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Louis was born in Three Oaks on May 4, 1918, one of 12 children born to Charles and Elizabeth (Schwark) Waaso. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1937 and served his country in the 32nd Red Arrow Division of the U.S. Army during WWII.
Louis was a tech sergeant and troop leader and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, one with the Oak Leaf Cluster. On June 30, 1945 he married Lorraine Heyn, they celebrated 62 years of marriage this year. Louis retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1977 after 33 years. He enjoyed being outside working in his yard, gardening, or just taking a walk. Louis loved to watch his grandkids play sports. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, children, Jennifer Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana; Tim (Nancy) Waaso of Bridgman, Michigan and David (Mary) Waaso of South Haven, Michigan; grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson, Michele (James)Trauger; Heather (Matthew)Riehle, Nathan Gauthier, Jerimee Gauthier, Andrew Waaso, Skyler Waaso, Kale Waaso, Brodie Waaso and Peyton Waaso; great grandchildren, Michael Riehle and Maggie Riehle; brothers, LeRoy Waaso of Three Oaks and Robert Waaso of Grand Haven, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, 3 sisters, and his son-in-law, Edward Anderson.
