Louis W. Basel, 97, of Derby, formerly of Foster St., New Haven passed away March 22, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie Constantinedes Basel. Born in New Haven on Nov. 12, 1920, he was the son of the late William E. and Antiopi Peperidou Basel. A well known restaurateur, he operated Basel’s Restaurant on State St. in New Haven for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1987.
