Louis Vincent LaMonaca was 91 when he passed away peacefully Sunday, October 23rd. Born in New York City, Louis was a resident of New Milford for many years. He served his Country honorably in the the United States Army Air Force during World War II. When the War was over, Louis went on to work for the United States Postal Service as a Machine Mechanic at the Eastern Area Overhaul Center in Queens, New York for over 36 years before retiring in 1984. After his retirement from the Postal Service, Louis went to work for the New Milford Board of Education at the Gibbs Elementary School and New Milford High School as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was an avid collector of Lionel Trains and a model train enthusiast.
Louis was predeceased by his late wife Anna (nee Faldetta) in 1988. He is the loving father of Gerry Lamonaca and his wife Linda and Joseph G. Lamonaca. Louis was predeceased by his late sisters Delia Cuponni and Serina Matola. He was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Christopher, Melinda, and Gerlando,Jr. and the great grandfather of Savannah Jane and Avery Lynn.
