Louis Raymond Desrochers, Sr. of Edwardsburg, formerly of Vandalia, Michigan and Elkhart, Indiana, died peacefully Tuesday evening, February 18, 2014, in his residence in the presence of his family. Louis was born February 1, 1928 in Rudyard, Michigan to Alfred and Bertha (Paquette) Desrochers. He married Betty R. Elliott November 23, 1949 in Rudyard.
She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Louis Raymond Desrochers, Jr.; one sister, Barbara Fleming; and two brothers Leonard Desrochers and Clement Desrochers.Louis was a masonry contractor and a fifty year member of the Indiana Kentucky Bricklayers Union, Local 4. His hobby was making stained glass windows. Louis and Betty were avid dancers.
Family and friends will greatly miss Louis. He is survived by his wife of over sixty four years, Betty (Elliott) Desrochers of Edwardsburg; one daughter, Shonna (Rene) Olivier of Elkhart; two granddaughters, Brigitte Olivier of Maui, Hawaii, Joele (David) Leith of Granger, Indiana; one great grandson, Jon Leith of Granger, Indiana; one great granddaughter, Jade Leith; two brothers, Robert (Frances) Desrochers of Rosevale, California, Franklin (Kathleen) Desrochers of Clarkston, Michigan; two sisters in law, Marion Desrochers of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, Barbara Desrochers of Clarkston, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
