Louis E. Rayburn received his heavenly wings on October 18th. Meeting him at the pearly gates was his wife of 54 years, Lois Rayburn. She preceded him in death December 12, 2000. He was born June 27, 1924, in Odessa.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel; two brothers, Lt. Col. E.T. Rayburn and Seaman Otis Rayburn; and his parents, Mack Kalahan and Canada Rayburn.

Mr. Rayburn was a WW II veteran. He served in North Africa, Naples, Rome and North Appennines, Italy. He received many awards including E.A.M. E. Campaign Medal, five bronze stars, Meritorious Unit Award, Victory Ribbon, one service stripe, five overseas service bars and an honorable discharge.

Mr. Rayburn retired from P.N.M. after 50 years of service.

He was a master craftsman in building and tinkering with all things mechanical and constructional. He was an avid golfer and received numerous trophies. He was a memorable prankster and loved making people laugh.

He was surrounded by his daughter, Dana Reyna; her four sons and six loving grandchildren. He was a fighter and never gave up until his final breath.

Following my father’s wishes, his loving survivors are his daughters, Patsy Jordan and Dana Rena; grandsons Darin Jordan (Angie), Todd Coates (Krystal), Scott Coaates (Thasia), Cody Coates and Cole Sherfield; great grandchildren Tori Jordan, Jaiden Coates, Avery Coates, Laura Coates, Kami Ray Coates, Kaylee Coates and MaKayla Coates; in addition to many friends and coworkers.
