Louis C. Provini, 87, of Kensington, the loving husband of Dorothy “Dot” (Denesevich) Provini, passed away after a short illness on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph Provini and Carolina (Simonetta) Provini. Lou was very proud of his Italian heritage whose parents came from la Valtellina in northern Italy. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) and was on the carrier during its maiden voyage. After his service in the military, Lou continued his education, taking classes at night to receive his teaching certificate. For many years he taught automotive classes at the Connecticut state trade schools where he became head of the automotive department. He was a communicant of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Kensington. Lou was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3675 in Berlin. He was also a member of the Italian Independent Political Club in Berlin and was a long time Ham radio operator, being able to communicate worldwide. Lou was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and boating with family and friends. He also looked forward to summers on the Maine coast where he and Dot had their summer home, right on the water to watch the incredible sunsets once again with family and friends. In addition to his loving wife Dorothy of 62 years, Louis is survived by his son Steve Provini and daughter-in-law Mala; brother John J. Provini and his wife Helen; sister-in-law Diane Provini; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Mario Provini.
