Muncie – Louie Gene Phillips, 48, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 10, 2012, after a valiant fight with cancer.

Louie was born in Muncie on February 6, 1964, the son of S.Q. and Phyllis (Monroe) Phillips, and attended Delta High School.

Mr. Phillips was a roofer for over 25 years, and worked for Wal-Mart in Muncie for the last six years until his health forced him into retirement. Louie was a man of God. He loved to fellowship and share the Word of Jesus.

Survivors include his wife, Mary “Margie” Phillips, Muncie; two daughters, Jessica Phillips, (husband-Larry Cox), and Brittany Phillips, (husband-James Eldridge), both of Muncie; an adopted son, Rick Pennington; four brothers, Monty Phillips, (wife-Judy), Larry Phillips, (wife-Debbie), William Phillips, (wife-Kathleen), and Delmer Phillips, all of Muncie; two sisters, Cathy Burnum, (husband-James), Albany, and Shawn “Pat” Phillips, (companion-Lauren), Pompano Beach, Florida; a sister-in-law, Barbara Monroe, Muncie; four grandchildren, Cameron Phillips, Caydance Cox, Liliana Phillips, and Eli Eldridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Reva Phillips, two brothers, Albert Phillips and Tony Monroe, a sister-in-law, Sharon Phillips; a special friend Martha Jean Smith; and his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Willard Thurman.
