Lou Ann Brown, 57, of rural Jacksonville, IL, and formerly of Beardstown, IL died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born June 29, 1954, in Rushville, IL; the daughter of Jeff and Opal Wilson Hood. She married Rick L. Brown on December 6, 1971, and he survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Brandy McGraw (husband, Darin) of Liberty; four grandchildren, SPC Zack McGraw serving with the US Army, Gage Huber, Jayde McGraw, and Sophie McGraw, all of Liberty; a brother, Terry Hood (wife, Linda) of England; a sister, Sue J. Moore of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jay Hood, Oliver “Butch” Hood, and Robin K. Hood.
Mrs. Brown was employed at the Lake Club in Springfield during the 1970s and later served as the assistant manager of the Blackhawk Restaurant and Village Pump for several years. A jack of all trades, Lou Ann was a talented painter and artist who also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, remodeling, fishing, mushroom hunting, and tending her flower garden. An excellent cook who mastered multiple kitchen skills, she always enjoyed hosting dinner parties. However, her real passion was her commitment to her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
