SUNYLorraine M. (nee Gibson), age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 14, 2021 of Havertown, and raised in West Philadelphia, Lorraine’s dad, Midge, bartended at the White Horse in the infamous “49th Street” neighborhood. She graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls in 1964, raised her family, and retired from Haverford Township (finance department) in 2019. Everyone loved her!Lorraine will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim of 56 years. The story goes…in high school Lorraine decided to enter into the convent after graduating, but then she met Jim, while babysitting, at the age of 16 and married 2 years later on July 24, 1965. The rest is Lorraine’s younger years, she enjoyed riding on the back of Jim’s Harley along side of Helen, Peppy, Bobby, and Adele; aka “The six pack”. They purchased their first home in Wynnefield, PA. In 1974, they moved to Havertown, and bought their forever home where they raised their three children: Sandy, Jimmy, and of Lorraine’s favorite things to do was go to Disney. She loved the magic of Disney, so much so that they bought a time share at the Disney’s Boardwalk Villas. Jim always knew when she was ready for a trip because she would say to him, “I’m ready to see my psychiatrist now” referring to Mickey Mouse. Although, she loved Minnie and Mickey, she especially loved the amusing personality of Donald Duck. It was a very happy place for Lorraine to go with Jim and her family.Lorraine also loved her Chardonnay. She would carry her own bottle (just enough for two glasses), drink from her favorite Mickey wine glass, and then ask for “rocks on the side”. We will never forget her great love for her grandchildren. And of course, she loved kitty cats. These are only a few things that would put the biggest smile on her face and Lorraine had THE BEST SMILE!Lorraine was daughter to the late Francis “Midge” and Mary Elizabeth “Peg” (nee Forbes) and her two brothers Francis, Jr. and Richard (Jeanne) Gibson. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband James “Jim” Suny, her beloved children Sandra Marie, James R., Jr. (Carla), and Gregory C. (Kristeen). Nine grandchildren, Michael (Narita), Vanessa, Rachel (Chris), Bobby (Tia), Jaime, Julia, Jesse, Kayden, and Kristian. Two great-grandchildren Noelle and Emira. Lorraine is the sister of Maryann (Ed) Riley.
