Lorraine was predeceased by her husband;  John A. “Jack” Delaney; and survived by her Children,  Jeffrey (Mary Kay) Delaney and Kirsten (Drew) Smith;  grandchilden,  Rachel Smith, Amelia (Brian) Caraway and Jakob Smith; Sisters,  Polly Keegan and Carol Dees; neices, nephews, relatives and friends.

Lorraine was a prime example of a contemporary “Renaissance Woman” and reflected her remarkable zeal for life through her diverse and varied interests and activities. Lorraine’s outstanding leadership qualities were apparent in the numerous organizations she was an integral part of, and, or led.

Lorraine and Jack moved throughout the northeast; culminating in their beloved lakeside home. Within each  community,  Lorraine  initiated and, or,  organized each town’s  local Republican Party. This led to her involvement at the county and state levels. She ultimately would take on the roles of  President of The 7th Judicial District for New York State, and then President of the New York State Federation of Republican Women.  Aside from politics, Lorraine was very civic-minded and headed up, or,  organized various community groups; which included the Presidency of the Women’s Club of Rochester.

Lorraine was extremely fun loving and gracious. Her advice to everyone was,  “Don’t be afraid to try new things!” and… she always did! She played Bridge, skied, organized a gourmet cooking club, renovated an old historic school house, sewed, produced beautiful artwork including oil painting, played golf and racquetball. Lorraine also enjoyed antiquing and gardening. Her most recent passion was curling.

Most noteworthy was Lorraine’s  great love of bringing people together. She was outgoing, engaging and had a delightful sense of humor. She was known as the instigator of many practical jokes. Known as the  queen of hospitality, Lorraine enjoyed hosting large scale social events and parties. Lorraine loved animals and over the years was a loving parent to several dogs and cats. More recently her cat Isabella was her constant companion. Lorraine’s powerful personality was unique. She was unwavering in her beliefs and actively lived out her values with integrity and character which we hope will never be forgotten.
