Lorraine D Cronin of Townsend Ave. New Haven CT and summer residence at Sunrise Cove, Branford died peacefully September 26, 2018. She was the wife of the late Dr. Robert J. Cronin and the late Carl Danielson. Mrs. Cronin was the daughter of the late Alexander Desco and Pauline Piontek Desco Lacko. She was the cousin of the late Edward Funaro Jr. and Alfred Bysiewicz. Mrs. Cronin leaves daughters, Penni Rose (Robert) of North Branford, Terri Budney (late Jeffrey) of Berlin, stepdaughters, Janice Cunningham (Richard) and Cheryl Cronin (Elissa Jenny) both of Branford. Stepsons Robert Cronin of Alameda, CA and James Cronin (Mary) of Waccabuc NY. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Cronin was very active at St. Raphael’s Hospital where she served as secretary of the Foundation Board, past president of the Auxiliary, chaired the annual golf tournament

for 28 years and was involved with the Doc Brady Special Olympics Tournament. Lorraine was a member of the New Haven Country Club where she served on the membership committee. She was also a board member of the Sunrise Cove Assoc. and the Bank of Southern Connecticut. Albertus Magnus College awarded her with a Doctor of Humane Letters. After graduation from high school Lorraine took a summer office job in a construction company prior to starting college. She moved on to work at the executive level for several area construction companies. In 1978, when a friend suggested that she consider doing some volunteer work she joined the Auxiliary of the Hospital of St. Raphael, and never one to do anything half way, she was soon immersed in many projects.
