Lorna Spence Voigt, 87, of Nampa, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Chandler, Arizona. Lorna was born on October 27, 1924 in Bellbird, New South Wales, Australia to George and Annie Stephenson. She was raised and educated in the Bellbird and Sydney areas. On October 7, 1943 she married William Towery, a young man from the United States Army Air Corp, who was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. William went M.I.A. during the war and at the age of 18, Lorna came to Nampa to meet her missing husband’s family. She ended up staying in Nampa after being treated like a daughter by the Towery’s.
She met and married Carl Voigt on October 8, 1945 in Nampa. During their marriage they owned and operated the Voigt Refrigeration Co. in Nampa for 28 years. Carl passed away on August 18, 1993.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Mark) Petty of Munroe Falls, Ohio, Karla Martinez of Gilbert, Arizona, Debbie Krommenhoek of Seattle, Washington and Bruce Voigt of Gilbert, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
