Lorna Jean Dawson Force, 75 years, of Virginia, IL and formerly of Chandlerville, IL died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown, IL.
She was born February 6, 1932 in Virginia, IL; the daughter of Iola Boyd Dawson Fanning and Loren Cody Dawson Sr.. She married Jonathan T. Force on April 22, 1950 in Pickett, AR and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Gloria Gay Force of Jacksonville and Vicki Sue Force Anderson (husband, Dan) of Willard, MO; a son, Mark Anthony Force (wife, Sheila) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Terry Jon Anderson (wife, Angie) of Springfield, MO, James Cody Anderson (wife, Chrissy) of Springfield, MO, Shawn Michael Force (wife, P.J.) Of Jacksonville, Renee Hagloch (husband, Charles) of Washington, and Anthony Knight Force of Virginia; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Loren Junior Dawson (wife, Evelyn) of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Wayne Force; a grandson, Mark Daniel Force; and a sister in infancy.
Mrs. Force was a 1950 graduate of Virginia High School and was formerly employed at Capitol Records in Jacksonville. Her many accomplishments in life included her volunteer work with I-SEARCH where she was lovingly remembered as the â??Grandmother of I-SEARCH. She also served on the board of directors for the Womens Crisis Center and the Youth Attention Center in Jacksonville and the TOGETHER WE CAN organization in Virginia. She was loved by many area children as a Nanny, their faithful care giver. Her home was an open door to many and a tasty home cooked meal was always on the table. She was a former member of the Faith Baptist Church in Virginia and the Beardstown VFW Post #2127 Ladies Auxiliary.
