Mrs. Carl (Loretta) Schmidt, 91, of Peru, died at 11:25 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Mendota Lutheran Home. She was born March 1, 1916, in Peterstown, to John and Angeline (Metzen) Happ. She married Carl L. Schmidt on Sept. 14, 1943, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Peterstown.
She was a member of St. Josephs Church in Peru and was past president of the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and IVC Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by 3 sisters, Helen Happ of Peru, Lucille Stadel of Henry and Darlene (Frank) Burke of Peterstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 18, 1999; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
