Loretta was born on March 12, 1925, in South Bend to Mary & Theodore Cebulski. She was a homemaker. On July 5, 1947, Loretta married Carl Mitts who survives. Surviving with her husband are her children, Ronald (April) Mitts of Mishawaka, Indiana, Cheryl (Paul) Pluta of South Bend; grandchildren, Tammy (Daryl) Simmons, Kristy (Karl) Morris, Betsy Mitts, Richard Wood, Ben Pluta, and David Pluta; a great grandson, Doren Morris; a sister, Genevieve Stephens of South Bend; a special cousin, Joan Zsigrai; and a special granddaughter, Traci Miller.

Mrs. Mitts was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed nothing more than spoiling her grandchildren. Her love for children was visible by her willingness to babysit for all the neighborhood children, who called her grandma. She also had a special love for dogs. The family would like to thank her granddaughter, Tammy who has been her caregiver for the last four years and also to Southern Care Hospice.
God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to
be, He closed His arms around you and whispered,
“come to Me.” In tears we saw you sinking, we
watched you fade away, our hearts were almost
broken, you fought so hard to stay. But when we
saw you sleeping so peacefully, free from pain, we
would not wish you back to suffer that again. So
treasure her, Lord, in your garden of rest, for
here on earth she was one of the best.
