Loretta Marie Jackson, 84, of Jacksonville, IL, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
She was born June 11, 1936, in White Hall, the daughter of David and Ona Ball Castleberry. She married Merle Henderson Jackson on Oct. 21, 1974, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2015.
She is survived by five daughters and three sons, Brenda Davis Whisler of Jacksonville, Frank (Tracy) Davis of Bluffs, Sheila VanHyning of Winchester, Anthony (Mary) Davis of Bluffs, Edward (Norma) Davis of Jacksonville, Lila Davis of Jacksonville, Sandy (Mike) Westfall of Meredosia, and Melanie (John) Walker of Jacksonville; one stepson, Robert Bryant of Murphysboro, TN; one stepdaughter, Jacki Whisler of Decatur; 26 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Franklin “Bubby” Castleberry of Griggsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Randy Davis and Dennis Davis; six brothers, Edward, Orville, Charles, Frank, Leslie, and Clarence; and three sisters, Ann Redding, Betty Newingham, and Shirley Hazelwood.
Mrs. Jackson was a lifelong member of Bluffs Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible and sharing her Christian faith. She also enjoyed poetry, drawing, and spending time with her furry friend, Tina Too. Loretta always considered everyone a part of her family.
