Loretta Cain was born Feb 18, 1923, in Garnett, Kansas to Clyde Morris and Vena Teeter Morris.

She was raised in Kansas and after graduating from high school she moved to Clovis, NM. During WWII she worked in a munitions plant assembling artillery shells. After WWII she married Frank Cain and moved throughout New Mexico and Texas following Frank’s bricklaying and stonecutting jobs. In 1955 Frank and Loretta moved to Deming, NM to farm. Loretta was a prominent New Mexico artist and continued to paint for nearly 70 years until she became blind. She was Luna County Treasurer during the 1960-the 70s, helped Frank with Cain Fertilizer and Grain, and ran a custom frame shop and gallery. After Frank’s death in 1995, Loretta moved to Silver City and at the age of 80 opened another gallery.

Loretta is survived by daughter Beckie (Jerry) Seybert of Tucson, brother, Lloyd Morris (Marilyn) Morris of Topeka, KS, grandsons Brian and Kirk Lockney, Yucaipa, CA, granddaughters Katrina (Jeremy) Taylor of Tucson, AZ, and Elizabeth (Scott) Van Lone of Pacific Grove, CA, and 6 great-granddaughters, Shannon, Katy, Emily, Mackenzie, Peyton, and Alice.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, daughter Jo Ann, parents, sister Josephine, and brother Clyde.
