Lorenz S. Kehl, Jr., 87, of Jacksonville, died March 13, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He was born May 14, 1920, in Mexico, Mo., the son of Lorenz Puddy and Freida Leon Button Kehl, Sr. He married Margaret Bolino on July 15, 1951, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Linda Case of Belleville; one granddaughter, Lauren Case of Belleville; one sister, Eileen Kehl of Jacksonville; one brother, Bob (wife, Dorothy) Kehl of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Kehl.
Mr. Kehl was a 1939 graduate of Jacksonville High School. After high school, he went to work for Production Press in Jacksonville. In 1941, he was drafted into the Army as a Combat Engineer, serving in the European Theatre, and participated in the D-Day Invasion. After his discharge, he returned to Production Press, retiring after over fifty years of service. He was a member of Harmony Lodge #3, and along with his wife was involved with Eastern Star. When he was young, he was an avid Ham Radio Operator.
