(USAF LTC Ret.) Loren L. “Lee” Buyher took his last flight October 14, 2012 with his family at his bedside.

Lee was born in Superior, AZ , the son of Louree and Loren Buyher.  He was raised in Phoenix, AZ and graduated from Arizona State University.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dottie; son Robert of Sylacauga, AL; sister LaMaryl Shipp and husband Arlan of Phoenix, AZ; grandson Codey Buyher of Hahaira, GA; nieces and nephews.

Lee proudly served his country for 24 years including 2 tours in Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller.

Although he thought of himself as a “desert rat”, Lee learned to love the local waters and boating on the “Sun Devil”.   Before his illness, he and Dottie were active members of the Eglin Yacht Club and Bluewater Bay Sail Club. Lee had lifetime memberships in the NRA, DAV, Air Commando Association, and FAC Association.  He was also a member of the Order of Daedalians Sea Gull Flight #61, FWBMC Auxiliary and was honored as a Kentucky Colonel.

Special thanks to the staff at Emerald Coast hospice for their loving care and concern.  They made a difficult journey so much easier.
