Loren S. “Bob” Hackett, age 95 of Midland, died Sunday December 14, 2014 at Brittany Manor. The son of the late Loren S. and Lydia C. (Strevel) Hackett was born in Midland on June 1, 1919 where he was raised and educated. He served in the United States Army during World War II with 2 years in Illusion Island and 14 months in Europe.

Bob began his career with Dow Corning in 1955 as an operator and then retired from the maintenance department in 1980 after 25 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Berryhill Post 165, V.F.V. Post 3651, enjoyed fishing, doing handy work, woodworking and volunteering for Senior Services. Bob invented the Doodle Bug which was feature in Popular Mechanic Magazine. On September 23, 1978 Bob married Theda Spence. She died on March 31, 1990.

Surviving is his son, Robert P. (Kathy) Hackett of Morraine, Ohio; granddaughter, Amber; sisters, Melba Hopkins of Midland, Barbara Diener of North Carolina; special friend and companion, Dorothy Camehl of Midland. In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by brothers, Charles & Don Hackett; sisters, Agnes E. Thompson, Ruth M. Stoneburner, Betty Hackett.
