Lonnie Anthony Du’Bois, “Wahbaanaaquad” which means “Gray Cloud” 54, of the, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa began his spiritual journey on Monday, May 15, 2017.  Lonnie was born in Belcourt, North Dakota, on March 8, 1963 to Emil Du’Bois and Violet (Davis) Du’Bois.

Lonnie loved music! He was a professional drummer and “kept the beat” for many local bands, and when he wasn’t playing the drums he was dancing the two-step. He attended school in Albuquerque, New Mexico for correctional officer security training, and was the security officer at Cass Lake IHS for 5 years. Lonnie was a wonderful husband and father who loved fishing with his boys. He was affectionally know by his grandchildren as “Papa”. He has left a void in many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those welcoming Lonnie home are his father; Emil Du’Bois, and one brother; Michael Du’Bois.

He leaves behind his mother;  Violet Du’Bois, beloved wife, friend, and partner; Barb (White) Du’Bois, sons; River Phoenix Du’Bois “Niibe”- “Water”, Anthony Eugene Du’Bois “Waygahdabboosay”- “Walking on water”, Ean Jay Du’Bois “Makoonz”- “Little Bear”, Caleb Anthony Du’Bois, sisters; Beverly Gooden, Donna Thomas, Linda (Jiggers) Du’Bois, Sandi LaRocque, Gayle (Raymond) Peltier, Janice (Jessie) Delorme, Shelly Du’Bois, brothers; Darrell (Tammy) Du’Bois, Emil (Zig) Du’Bois, Clifford Du’Bois, 4 grandchildren; River, Chance, Anayah, Skylinn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
