Lois Louis Hartman Philbert, 87, Alexandria, died July 3, 2002 at Alexandria Care Center, Alexandria after an extended illness. She was born September 22, 1914 in Bluffton, Indiana, and resided in Alexandria. She was a resident of Anderson from the 1930’s to 1966. She lived in Marion from 1966 to 1972. She retired to Silver Lake in 1972 and returned to Anderson in 1984. She was a homemaker.

She had worked for K-Mart in Marion, Resnick Clothing Store in Marion, Payless Supermarket in Anderson, co-owned and operated Philbert’s Grocery in Ovid and Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson. She was a Fairland High School Alumni of 1932. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

She is survived by her two sons: James W. Philbert II of Anderson and Dr. Robert E. & wife Cheryl Toney Philbert of Marion; a sister: Mildred Collier of Muncie; a sister-in-law: Jean Hartman Schonfeld of Silver Springs, MD; two grandchildren: Karen & husband Ron Gamache of Flint, MI and Jennifer Philbert of Muncie; four great grandchildren: Ronnie, Aryana & Elizjah Gamache and Leslie Philbert; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years whom she married November 22, 1939 and who passed away on April 13, 2001, her parents Shirley Earl & Alta P. Clowser Hartman and a brother Paul Hartman.
