Lois L. Winger, 88 of Plover died December 9, 2010 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. Lois Lavine (Wenck), the daughter of Daniel and Frieda Harmening Wenck was born July 3, 1922 on the family farm near Glidden, Iowa. She was raised and received her education in Lidderdale, IA. She worked a Wencks Mill and Hatchery in Lidderdale and was the first lady hog buyer in the state of Iowa. On July 30, 1961 she was united in marriage with Marion Earl Winger in Lidderdale. After their marriage the couple lived in various locations including a short time in Carroll and Jefferson, IA before moving to Des Moines where they ran a Texeco Gas Station. They then spent time in Belvedere, Illinois before moving to farm in Bruce, Wisconsin from 1976-1983. In 1985 the couple located to Plover where they have resided the past 25 years. Survivors include her son John Winger of Plover, Iowa, grandson John Michael II, brother Oliver Wenck of Lidderdale, Ia and sister Norma Hein of Carroll, Ia. Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard, and the “July 3rd Birthday Club. She was very family oriented and loved gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2003, brothers Glenn and Russell and sister Carol.
