Troy – Lois J. Ives, 91, formerly of Troy and Menands, NY died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center Troy after a long illness.
 
Born in Troy, Lois was the daughter of the late Floyd K Ives and Dorothy Swartwout Ives. She had resided in the Troy and Menands most of her life and was a graduate of Troy High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Russell Sage College in 1948. 
 
After working as a Social Worker and Probation Officer in Troy, Lois was employed in 1954 by the University of Michigan where she became Program Director of the Women’s League. After returning to Troy in 1962, Lois worked at RPI on the staff of the Office of the Dean of Students as Social Director and later on the staff of the Rensselaer Union as Facilities Coordinator. She retired from full-time work in the 1990’s, but continued to work part-time until 2003.
 
Lois was a long-time communicant of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Loudonville. She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing bridge, attending RPI hockey games, and spending time with family and friends. Lois enjoyed traveling to Europe, England, California, Maine, Cape Cod, Canada and several other states.    
 
Lois is survived by her sister, Elise (David) Roblin of Holland, MI, her niece, Lynne Roblin of Troy, NY and nephew, Jonathan Roblin of Holland, MI. 

Lois’s family cannot begin to express the appreciation and gratitude they have for the staff at the Terrace and Courtyard at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center on Burdett Avenue for their comforting and loving care of both Lois and her family.
