Mrs. Lois Jean (Lindenmeyer) Helmig, 88, of Peru, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at St. Margarets Hospital in Spring Valley. Mrs. Helmig was born on June 11, 1927, in Peru to Harold A. and Bertha (Becker) Lindenmeyer.
She married Herbert C. Helmig, Jr. on May 25, 1946, in St. Johns Lutheran Church in Peru. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and attended St. Francis School of nursing in Bloomington. Mrs. Helmig was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Bureau County Civil Defense at its inception. She was active in the I.B.E.W Local 1306, before her retirement from Illinois Power Company. She was a member of the Peru 1332 AARP, and the Illinois Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her cousin, Karen L. Kroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Herbert.C. Helmig, Jr.
