Lois Wolston Wertheim, age 91, passed away December 29, 2013 in Boerne, Texas. Born in San Antonio on November 20, 1922 to William and Viola Wolston. A resident of Boerne since 1962, Lois raised four children, served as administrator of Town and County Manor, was a former president of the Chamber of Commerce and co-owned Hill Country Bakery with her husband, Alex. After her retirement in 1989, she also lived in West Yellowstone, Montana, where at the age of 72, she began a career as a park ranger at the West Gate of Yellowstone National Park. In 2002, she received a special commendation by the National Park Service for her work and congratulating her on being the oldest national park service employee. She worked in Yellowstone until the fall of 2005. Lois enjoyed her community, supported the arts as a collector of the works of many local painters, loved the opera, played bridge regularly, and enjoyed rock hunting and traveling. She was an avid reader and relished the chance to learn by participating in Elderhostels. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander (Alex) Wertheim; son, James Alexander Wertheim; and daughter Frances Wertheim Prevott. Lois is survived by her daughter Deborah (Debbie) Wertheim of Austin; sons Pat Alexander Wertheim of Atlanta and Paul Wertheim and wife Robyn of Abilene; Grandchildren Christopher Paul of College Station and Lauren Elizabeth of Abilene; Katrina Wertheim Wiley and husband Neil of Brunswick, Maine and great grandchildren Jessie and Levi; Kasey Wertheim and wife Angie of Bridgeport, West Virginia and great grandchildren Crystelle and Kira; Kerry Wertheim and wife Noel of Waterford, Connecticut; Peggy Hollin of Boerne and great granddaughter Molly and great grandsons Orion and Troy Dalton; Dustin Cravey and wife LeeAnne of Orlando, Florida and great granddaughters Evelyn, Madelyn and Victoria.
