Lois E. Lore, 91, of Greensburg, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Blairsville, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Mary E. Lowry Jefferies. Along with her husband, she was a founding and longtime member of St. Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg. Prior to retirement, she was a fifth grade school teacher in the Hempfield Area School District. Lois majored in music in college and played the organ for her church. She did volunteer work for The Palace Theater, Greensburg, and was active in the Parkinson’s support group in Greensburg. Lois loved and adored her four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Lore, in 2007; and two sisters, J. Claire Jefferies and Thelma Bortner. She is survived by her two sons, Robert J. Lore (Janet), of Irwin, and James E. Lore (Marsha), of Murrysville; four granddaughters, Amy Kowinsky (Jayson), of Jeannette, Jennifer L. Lichok (Dan), of Delmont, Kelly J. Fill (Brian), of Cheswick, and Melanie A. Miller (Nick), of Export; seven great-grandchildren, Ian, Gavin, Madelyn, Lily, Nolan, Maya and Tyler; and a brother, Glenn A. Jefferies (Gayle), of Mars; also several nieces and nephews.
