Lois Ann Phegley passed away peacefully at her home on June 22, 2008, after courageously fighting cancer, where she was in the loving care of her family and friends.
Born in Bloomington, Indiana on March 22, 1947, she was the daughter of Wilbert “Webb” and Marion Virginia (Bensenhaver) Markle. Lois was formerly married to Larry Fleming of Rensselaer, together they had four sons whom she leaves behind: David (Diane) Fleming, Michael (Patty) Fleming, Mark (Stacy) Fleming, and Thomas (Christy) Fleming, all of Rensselaer, 14 grandchildren, 3 loving nieces, 2 sisters, Barb (Stan) Sallee, Indianapolis, IN and Virginia “Ginny” Markle, Monon, IN, 1 brother, Douglas (Diane) Markle, Fairland, IN, and her loving companion, Steve Hoyes, Rensselaer, IN.
Lois was a long time employee and office manager for Dr. Gaud and previously was employed at Jasper County Hospital emergency room as an EMT. Lois was a member of the Brushwood United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Rensselaer.
She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and sense of humor. She loved outdoor activities such as camping, gardening, traveling, and family gatherings. She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. All that knew her, felt her love of life and caring heart.
