Lloyd Claude McBurney, 90 passed into eternal life on April 2nd, 2020. Lloyd was born November 5, 1929, in Rockford, Illinois to Harold McBurney Sr. and Vinona Rinehart McBurney. He moved to Humboldt at the age of 10 and attended school at the Corinth one room school and later attended Humboldt High School graduating in 1948. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he attended lab school. Lloyd married the love of his life, Carol Wier in 1951, to which were born Pamela, Ronald, and Vinona. He retired in 1968 as a Chief Petty Officer HMC after 20 years of honorable service in the United States Navy. After retiring from the Navy Lloyd worked for Gunder Manufacturing and when the Humboldt Hospital opened, Lloyd became the first laboratory director, remaining there for 5 years. He then returned to Gunder Manufacturing where he remained until his retirement. Following retirement, Lloyd and Carol were able to travel extensively taking many trips to Europe and throughout the United States. Lloyd’s activities included membership in the Humboldt Masonic Lodge. As a 32nd degree mason he was also a member of the Za Ga Zig shrine temple in Des Moines and an active member of the Fort Dodge Zags parade unit. As a member of the Faith United Methodist church he served many years as head usher. His main hobby was wood working and he made many pieces of furniture and toys for family members. He is survived by his wife, Carol and three children: Pam (David) Lerdal of Donalsonville, Georgia, Ronald McBurney of Norwich, Connecticut, and Vinona Christensen of Noblesville, Indiana. Grandchildren: Heather (Andrew) Fonfara of Valrico, Florida, Ann (Matthew) Talbert of Monticello, Illinois, Eric (Charlee) Lerdal of Boone, Iowa, Joel (Layne) Christensen of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Rachel (John) Simons of Noblesville, Indiana and 13 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Harold (Gladys) McBurney, Kathryn (Orville) Anderson, Mary (Stanley) Dirksen, Thomas (Ruby) McBurney, Margaret McBurney, and son-in-law Todd Christensen.
