Lloyd M. Strough, 91, of Lapel, formerly of Fortville, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville.

He was born February 27, 1918 in Henry County to the late Estus K. and Gladys (Hewitt) Strough. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII. He opened Strough’s IGA Supermarket in Fortville in 1949 and continued to own and operate the store for nearly 60 years. Mr. Strough was a member of the Fortville F&AM No. 207, Eastern Star No. 149, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Cyntheanne Christian Church.

He also attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. Mr. Strough is survived by his wife, Nancy (Fadely) Strough; son, Mark (Sandra) Strough and daughter, Debbie (Dan McGuire) Crist, both of Fortville; step-daughter, Jayne (Bob) Seybert of Lapel; brothers, Clinton (Martina) of North Carolina and Merill (Jean) of Pendleton; sister, Jenny Lee Mitchell of Fortville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Marjorie (Fields) Strough; daughters D-Laine and Diane Strough; sisters, Ogle Weed and Georgiana Strough; and brothers, Oliver and Basil Strough.
