Lloyd C. Steinmann, Jr of Denver, Colorado died on January 9, 2018. He was 89 years old. Born on December 7, 1928 to Lloyd Charles Steinmann and Ruth Anna Young Steinmann, he lived in Denver Colorado the majority of his life. He was a graduate of East High School and went on to the University of Denver, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. As a member of the Colorado Air National Guard, he was activated to the USAF during the Korean War and served at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma until he was honorably discharged in 1952 and returned to Denver. In his youth, he lived in the Park Hill neighborhood. All the neighborhood kids gathered at one house, in particular. Living in that house was his future wife, Betty (Bardwell). At the time of his death, he and Betty had been married for 66 years and known each other for 77! In researching his family tree, he was fascinated to discover that he descends from builders as he was professionally involved in many aspects of the construction industry, ultimately forming Supreme Custom Builders, Inc. with two partners. They were involved in commercial and residential construction and remodeling projects all over the city. His interests were many: fly fishing, stamp collecting, skiing and pheasant hunting to name a few. He loved the outdoors, jazz, swing and nights at Elitches’ Trocadaro. He was a member of the Association of General Contractors, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Colorado, was a DIA ambassador, a Meals on Wheels delivery driver and a dispatcher for the Red Cross. On September 27, 1943 he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout (Denver Area Council, Troop 28). He watched his legacy continue as his son, Mike, in 1966 and his grandson, Alexander, in 2013 both became Eagles. Lloyd was a deeply spiritual man. In recent years, he cherished his time studying with Chaplain Mike at Clermont Park. He was preceded in death by his grandson, William Steinmann and his niece, Karen Short. Survivors include his wife Betty; children Michael Lloyd Steinmann (Jeanne) of Benicia, CA; Judith Encinias (Grant) of Centennial, CO; and, David Rodney Steinmann (Terri) of Santa Cruz, CA; grandchildren Beth Steinmann (Yarrow Sweningsen), Katherine Steinmann (Jesse Mathewson), Alexander Encinias, and Delilah Steinmann; great grandchildren Loma Jane, Sterling and Sylvan Sweningsen. His brother, Walter Steinmann of New Castle, CA; nieces Linda Eschels and Lisa Charnock; nephews Brian West and Jeremy Steinmann; nephew-in-law Jeff Short; his “little brother” Eric Albi; and his dog, Missy. He was a good friend to many and we will all miss his voice of reason and his dry wit.
