Orville F. Litteken, 81, of Aviston, IL died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL. Mr. Litteken was born July 28, 1923, in Aviston, son of August A. & Mary (VonLaar) Litteken. He married Ann C. Kniepmann April 9, 1947 in Trenton, IL and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Paul Litteken and wife Ruth of Aviston, Allan Litteken and wife Carla of Breese, and Dale E. Litteken and wife Judy of Aviston; one daughter, Kathy Winter and husband Glenn of Breese; two brothers, Edgar Litteken and wife Martha of Aviston, & August Litteken and wife Shirley of Springfield, MO; one sister, Evelyn Korte of Aviston; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Cocran and husband Jason, Julie Litteken, Greg Litteken, Jan Litteken, Brent Winter, Tracy Winter, Jason Litteken, Ryan Litteken, Allyson Litteken, Austin Litteken & Joshua Litteken; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Erwin Kalmer of Trenton, Marie Litteken of Charleston, Mary Hammer of Trenton, Marcella Brendel and husband Owen of Troy, Bea Kniepmann of Highland, IL, Martha Bellm of Highland, IL, Pat Kniepmann of Kirkwood, MO, Rose Sudholt and husband Bud of Breese, Bernadette Lechner and husband Francis of Trenton, Rita Liening and husband Edgar of Breese, and Jane Niebur and husband Stan of Breese.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Steven Litteken, Ralph Litteken & Lavern Litteken; one sister, Ermalinda Kalmer; brothers-in-law Lawrence Korte, Alfred Hammer, Edward Kniepmann, Joe Kniepmann & Clinton Bellm; and sisters-in-law, Kathryn Litteken, & Augusta Litteken. Mr. Litteken was a retired HVAC service tech at Scott Air Force Base, and a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Men’s Sodality and also served as an usher; he was past president of the parish council; a former Village of Aviston Trustee; charter member and past commander of American Legion Post 1239; member of Knights of Columbus Council 2869, Breese; Clinton County Farm Bureau; former member of the Aviston Grade School Board of Education and a former member of the Mater Dei Band Association. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during WWII.
