Edgar J. Litteken, 92, of Aviston, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born December 3, 1921 in Aviston, son of August and Mary (Von Laar) Litteken, Sr. He married Martha C. Venhaus on August 21, 1946 in Aviston and she survives in Aviston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Deacon Charles (Mary) Litteken of Aviston, Don (Joyce) Litteken of Centralia, Mary (Don) Schulte of Aviston, Pat (Tom) Kirner of Marshalltown, IA, Gary (Sue) Litteken of Aviston and Kevin (Peggy) Litteken of Aviston; daughter-in-law, Debbie Litteken of Aviston; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and was anticipating the birth of three additional great-grandchildren; a brother, August (Shirley) Litteken, Jr. of Springfield, MO; and sisters-in-law, Ann Litteken of Aviston and Marie Litteken of Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tom Litteken; brothers and sisters, Stephen Litteken, Ermalinda Kalmer, Ralph Litteken, Evelyn Korte, Orville Litteken, and Lavergne Litteken; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kathryn Litteken, Erwin Kalmer, Augusta Litteken, Lawrence Korte, Helen & Al Lampe, Marie & Vince Ribbing, and Rich & Rita Venhaus.

Mr. Litteken was a dairy farmer and also worked part-time at Aviston Lumber Company. He was a member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston where he was a Eucharistic minister, an usher, funeral server, took communion to the sick, and was a former choir member; he was a member of Catholic Holy Family Society and a member of Clinton County Farm Bureau for over 50 years. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening and playing cards.
