Lisa Michele Zachary, 59, gained her heavenly wings on a peaceful December afternoon in 2019.

Her beautiful presence graced this world on July 26th, 1960, at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. Lisa is the daughter of Robert J. Zachary and Iva J. Rose, and is the youngest of four children. She enjoyed being with her brothers and sister, who were her friends and protectors. Although she lived in Texas only briefly, she was a proud Texan at heart. She had a great love of the hot Texas summer days, the southern hospitality, and the bluebonnets blooming in the hill country, which always warmed her heart and brought her home.

As a young child, she moved to the beautiful state of Oregon. She loved the vast mountains, the lush trees, and the serene coastal water. Lisa formed a life-long bond with her three cousins, where they rode horses, played with the animals, and created timeless memories. Her life was full of adventure, she was an outgoing young woman in school, and the hardest working woman we have ever known.

Lisa was a friend to many and a stranger to no one. Her smile lit up the room, she loved people, and she didn’t hesitate to stop her day to lend an ear, to help someone in need, or to just share a good laugh. Her presence and the love that she had for others was enough to mend broken hearts, dry tears, and to change lives. Lisa was an earth angel, and our loss is heavens gain.

Lisa’s love for animals was apparent from the moment she was a child, and she continued to be the most compassionate person, rescuing injured animals, reuniting lost pets with their families, taking in stray animals, and stopping her day for any animal in need. She became a veterinary technician; it was a privilege for her to care for any animal. Many animals found comfort in Lisa’s arms, and for her two special pups, Gracie and Lukey, on her warm lap.

Lisa was beauty. She saw beauty in everything, and she loved life so much.

Lisa always said that her favorite place was the Oregon coast. She loved the feel of the ocean breeze on her face, collecting agates, seashells, and other treasures. She spent hours sitting oceanside where she would paint and sketch, she was a gifted artist. Lisa loved painting with watercolors, working with clay, and creating little animals and people.

She found motherhood to be her biggest blessing and richest accomplishment in life. When her daughters were born, she was forever changed, she cared for them, comforted them, taught them, loved them like no other, and she was so proud of “her girls”. She invested immeasurable time and ensured that the lives of her daughters, Jessica and Lacey, were nothing short of beautiful. Lisa was a hero to her children, they aspire to be like her, to love how she loved, and to spread the joy that she spread into the world.

Lisa was a great example for her children. She taught them about hope and faith in God, about love and wonder. Jessica and Lacey always knew that they were loved beyond measure, she would constantly remind them of God’s love for His children. She prayed daily with her children. She often would recite scripture:

Truly I tell you, if you have faith like a grain of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

When her grandchildren came along, her life was once again blessed and forever changed. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as “Nene”. She cherished each precious moment with them, and Nene was their favorite person in the world. Lisa was her daughters entire world, their heart, and their best friend. She was a beloved wife, and the person that brought the most joy and happiness to her husband. Lisa was simply everything to so many. The love that she had for her family cannot be put into words, and the love felt by her family is indescribable.

The world was a better place because she was in it. Lisa’s memory will live on by all of the lives that she touched, her legacy will continue, and she will be deeply missed until we join her in heaven.

Family members who greeted Lisa at heavens gate include her parents, Robert J. Zachary and Iva J. Rose, and her siblings, Ronald B. Zachary, Marc L. Zachary, and Cheryl R. Zachary, and other loved ones.

Those honored to carry on Lisa’s memory include her daughters, Jessica L. (Bruton) DuBose and husband Russell (her cherished friend and son) of Lubbock, Texas; and Lacey M. (Bruton) Cox and husband AJ of Nampa, Idaho; grandchildren Jazmyne, Lyllie, Aleesia, and Lane Cox of Nampa, Idaho and Everly DuBose of Lubbock, Texas; her husband, Kenny Guest of Mackay, Idaho; her former husband and father of Lisa’s daughters, Boone Bruton of Paducah, Texas; an uncle, Myron L. Mead Sr. of Okanogan, Washington; an aunt, Edie Hayden and husband Jerry of Shelton, Washington; and cousins IvaKay Mead-Becker of Roseburg, Oregon; Peggy Johnson of Shelton, Washington; and Leroy Mead of Roseburg, Oregon.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
